    Please apply the correction module distributed on this page while ChineseWriter8 or ChineseWriter8Master is installed.

ChineseWriter8 - How to install and use the corrected version

For those who have previously installed the correction module for the "06/05/02 - 05/12/16 Edition"
If you have already installed an additional installation using the correction module "cw8.exe" for the 06/05/02 - 05/12/16 Edition, please perform the following operations before applying this correction module to 06/ Uninstall the correction module distributed in the 05/02 to 05/12/16 versions.
  1. Click [Start]-[Control Panel]-[Add or Remove Programs]
  2. Click "ChineseWriter8 Update" from the list of program names displayed
  3. Click the [Change/Remove] button to uninstall ( Click the [Change/Remove] button to uninstall (delete) the program.

After uninstalling, install the latest version of the update using the latest revision module.
  1. Click [Start Download] of "ChineseWriter8 - Change and Correction Files" at the back of this page.

  2. Set the download destination to your desktop or a folder "My Documents" where you can easily find it later.
    Download the file to your computer and save it. Do not run the program or open the file without downloading it.

  3. Do not change the file name, which is initially &QUOT ;cw8vup.exe".

  4. When &QUOT ;cw8vup.exe" finishes downloading, close the screen and exit your browser (Internet Explorer, etc.).

  5. Go to the folder where you saved the downloaded file.
    *If you downloaded the file to your desktop, it is located on your desktop.

  6. Double-click &QUOT ;cw8.exe" directly. Follow the on-screen instructions to proceed with the installation.

  7. Restart Windows.

You may delete the "cw8vup.exe" file after installation is complete.



 If you install ChineseWriter8 on Windows Vista, the following problem will occur.

    We plan to correct this issue in the future.
  • Uninstallation does not work properly. (The IME settings and IME file will remain without canceling the IME.
The "Online User Registration" message screen that appears after installation cannot be deleted from the dialog menu. To remove it, you must directly delete the [Online User Registration] menu in [Start]-[All Programs]-[Startup].
