Utility related
- Problem with IME Selector
- When Microsoft IME 98 is specified as the Japanese IME in the IME Selector preferences, clicking the IME Selector button to switch from Microsoft IME 98 to Chinese Writer V4's IME often caused the error "IMEJP98M page violation. error occurred frequently.
- Problems with Chinese-Japanese/Chinese dictionary lookup
- When using a Microsoft PS/2 IntelliMouse or similar device set to universal scrolling and using the wheel to scroll through the Chinese-Japanese and Japanese-Japanese dictionary display area, a portion of the dictionary display area would not be displayed.
- When the mouse was set for left-handed users, the Chinese-Japanese dictionary lookup program and the Chinese character pinyin converter did not start up properly.
- Problems with Chinese Text Converter
- When converting full-width lowercase n and m inputted in Chinese Writer V4 (CW) to GB code, n was converted to m and m was converted to n.
Input related
- IME problems
- While typing in Word2000, etc., pinyin was not displayed.
- When registering a dictionary, some words could not be selected from the list.
- Chinese input could not be performed using Chinese Writer V4 (GB/BIG5) in Outlook Express 5.0 on Windows NT 4.0.
We have added a new setting item to Chinese Writer V4 and changed the setting to enable input to Outlook Express 5.0 on Windows NT 4.0. For details, see "Chinese Writer V4 (GB/BIG5) Settings". - If I change the spreadsheet item to be input during handwritten input using a spreadsheet or other software, when I select it for handwritten input, it is input into the item at startup, not the changed item.
- When using a Wacom tablet for handwritten input, the first time the handwritten input works, but the next time it is started up, the program exits with the message "Incorrect processing was performed. The program terminated with the message "The program terminated with the message 'Illegal processing.
- The toolbar of the Chinese Writer V4 (CW, GB, BIG5) IME did not appear on some Windows systems, and input could not be performed.

Download and Installation Instructions Chinese Writer V4 - How to install and use the modified version
*This correction may not work correctly after using Chinese Writer V4 or if Chinese Writer V4 is set as the standard IME.
Please make sure that Chinese Writer V4 is not set as the standard IME, and restart Windows before performing the correction.
Create a folder to download the Chinese Writer V4.10 difference files using Explorer or other programs.
Here, the folder name is "CWV4.10".
Click "Start Download" under "Chinese Writer V4 - Change/Correction Files" at the back of this page.
Set the download destination to the created folder "CWV4.10".
Do not change the file name, which is initially " cwv410.exe".
After downloading cwv410.exe, double-click the downloaded file " cwv410.exe" directly from Explorer or the like.
Double-click the downloaded cwv410.exe file, and a dialog box will appear asking you to specify where to extract the file.
After specifying the decompression destination, click the OK button to start decompression.
After the decompression is finished, double-click "Setup.exe" in "CWV4.10" using Explorer or other programs.
The Chinese Writer V4.10 installer will start. Follow the on-screen instructions.
Chinese Writer V4 (GB/BIG5) Settings
If you are using Windows98 or WindowsNT4.0 and have made modifications using the above program, you will be able to switch between Ascii and Unicode in the Basic Settings of the Chinese Writer V4(GB/BIG5) Preferences.
Depending on the application using Chinese Writer V4, some settings may be necessary, so please make the necessary settings.

Chinese Writer V3 - How to install and use the modified uninstaller
Click "Start Download" from "Chinese Writer V3 - Corrected Version Uninstaller" at the back of this page.
Set an appropriate folder as the download destination.
The file name is initially " v3delup.exe", so do not change it.
After the download is complete, double-click the downloaded file " v3delup.exe" directly from Explorer or the like.
When you double-click the downloaded v3delup.exe, a dialog box will appear asking you to specify where to extract the file.
In this dialog, the initial value for the decompression destination is " C:\Chnwrtv4", but if you have installed Chinese Writer V4 in a location other than this drive/folder name, please specify the actual path name again.
After specifying the destination, click the OK button to start the installation.
To uninstall Chinese Writer V3 after unzipping, start Cwv3del.exe, which is created by the above instructions on how to install the Chinese Writer V3 correction uninstaller, by double-clicking it with Explorer, etc. and uninstalling it. Double-click Cwv3del.exe, which is created by the above instructions on how to install the Chinese Writer V3 Correction Uninstaller, to launch it and uninstall.
