Mishearing Series - Korean Version - Part 1

Today, we bring you Part 1 of the Mishearing Series - Korean Version.

We have native speakers from many different countries in our company.

I would like to share with you a story that I heard from one of them that made me chuckle.

One Korean employee was getting ready for work at home in the morning when he heard the Korean words "빨빨빨" on the TV.

He said that when he was getting ready for work at home in the morning, he clearly heard a voice saying "빨리빨리 (literal translation: Hurry up, hurry up)" in Korean on the TV.

He wondered why he could hear Korean on the Japanese TV, and asked his family about it.

As a matter of fact, a manufacturer's commercial advertising a cabbage salad was playing.

The onomatopoeic word for "crispy" texture!

The meaning is completely different between Korean and Japanese,

Although the meanings of Korean and Japanese words are quite different, there are many words that have the same sound.
