Japanese and Korean words that tend to be directly translated Part 1

As you know, Japanese and Korean have almost the same grammar and word order.

Therefore, it is a language that we tend to translate directly.

So, in this issue, we would like to introduce some direct translations into Japanese that have been spoken by native speakers of Korean.

When I was a child, my father, a native Korean speaker, took my family for a drive on a holiday.

When we were about to arrive home, he said

Everyone's here!

and waking up the children who had been dozing off in the car.

Later, when I was a student in Korea and the bus with my local friends was about to arrive at its destination,

다 왔다~!

I heard a voice saying, "다왔다~.

I belatedly learned that the slightly inappropriate expression that my father used to say in the car just before arriving home, "Everyone's here!

The similarity in grammar and word order makes me want to translate it directly, and it is worth the effort!

From the next issue onward, we will introduce some of the literal translations we hear here and there, so please look forward to them!
