Kohdensha employee's free travelogue "New York Manhattan Bus and Subway Situation

Following the previous article "Subway Situation in Seoul, Korea", we would like to report on "Bus and Subway Situation in Manhattan, New York City".
The Yellow Cabs and subways are very famous when it comes to transportation in New York City.
It has been a long time since the New York City subways were considered dangerous (of course, there are still some dangerous places depending on the time of day and location).
By the way, did you know that subway doors in New York close much faster than in Japan?
It's almost as if they are spartan.
Please be careful not to get your body or face caught in the door.
There are many buses in Manhattan, and they are used by so many people.
Some buses have one car, some have two cars, and you can get on and off using coins or a MetroCard, the same as for the subway.
Some buses have a function that allows wheelchair users to get on the bus by themselves by lowering the bus to almost the same height as the ground (a barrier-free vehicle that is now increasing in Japan).
Perhaps it is because Manhattan is a people-friendly city, but there are many more people riding the bus alone in wheelchairs than in Japan.
If you take a different bus or subway line within 2 hours, you do not have to pay for it.
For example, to go from Grand Central Station (the station often seen in movies) to Chinatown in the south,
I took the subway on the way there and the bus on the way back, and I felt like I got a $2 round trip. LOL!
If you are going to Manhattan in the future, please give it a try.
