  Uninstalling ChineseWriter9 /How to delete manually if you cannot uninstall

The order
The order of uninstallation from the control panel
  1. ChineseWriter9 MASTER *In case you are using ChineseWriter9MASTER
  2. ChineseWriter9 (64bit) Update *In case you are using Windows7 (64bit)
  3. ChineseWriter9
  4. ChineseWriter9 font set
  5. ChineseWriter9_Disk2
Phenomenon Normally, uninstallation from the control panel will complete the removal successfully and there is no need to perform
manual removal.
However, if for some reason you are unable to uninstall from the control panel, or if the uninstallation is halfway through
, you can perform
manual removal by following the procedure below. You can manually remove the software by following the procedure below.
Procedure

  1. For Windows7 and Vista
    ① Select [Control Panel] - [Clock, Language, and Region], in the [Region and Language] properties, click the tab [Keyboard and Language] and click the [Change Keyboard (C)] button.
    ② The "Text Services and Input Languages" dialog box will appear.
    (iii) Perform the following operations for the items displayed in "Installed Services (I)".
    Select ChineseWriter9 (GB) under Chinese (China) - [Keyboard] and click the "Remove" button.
    Select ChineseWriter9(BIG5) in Chinese(Taiwan)-[Keyboard] and click the "Delete" button.
    Select ChineseWriter9(CW) under Japanese(Japan)-[Keyboard] and click the "Delete" button.
    4) In the "Text Services and Input Languages" dialog box, click the [ OK ] button to finish the setting.

    For Windows XP
    ① Select [Control Panel] - [Regional and Language Options].
    2) In Regional and Language Option Properties, click on the [ Languages ] tab.
    ③ Click the [ Details (D) ] button to display the "Text Service and Input Languages" dialog box.
    ④ Select "Installed Services (I)"
    ChineseWriter9(GB) and click the [ Remove ] button on the right.
    Select ChineseWriter9(BIG5) and click the "Remove" button on the right.
    Select ChineseWriter9(CW) and click the "Delete" button on the right.
    ⑤ In the Text Services and Input Languages dialog, click the [ OK ] button to exit the setup.

    For Windows 2000:
    Open the [Keyboard]-[Language (Input Locale)] tag from the Control Panel.
    (If you have Office XP, open [Control Panel] - [Keyboard] - [Language (Input Locale)] and click Change).
    Remove Chinese Writer from the list of languages (input locales).


  2. Uninstall from the Control Panel.
    Uninstallation order
    1. ChineseWriter9 MASTER *If you are using ChineseWriter9MASTER
    2. ChineseWriter9 (64bit) Update *In case you are using Windows7 (64bit)
    3. ChineseWriter9 (64bit) Update
    4. ChineseWriter9 font set
    5. ChineseWriter9_Disk2
    *Please be sure to uninstall in the correct order.

    Q. I am not sure if my computer is 64-bit or 32-bit.
    A. In Windows 7, right-click on Start < Computer and left-click on Properties (R) to display the System.
    Under "System type," you will see either 32-bit operating system or 64-bit operating system, so you can check
    which OS you are using.

    If you are unable to uninstall the software successfully, or if the uninstallation stops in the middle of the process, please follow the steps below.

  3. Restart Windows.

  4. Right-click the Start button and launch Explorer.

  5. Delete the destination folder and the folder created after installation.
    6. Default installation location
    For 32bit version PC
    C:\Program Files\KODENSHA\ChineseWriter9

    For 64bit version PC
    C:\Program Files\KODENSHA\ChineseWriter9
    C:\Program Files (x86)\KODENSHA\ChineseWriter9

  6. Rename the folder where the dictionary files are stored. (If you do not need to use the user dictionary again, delete the folder below.)
    Default value
    <In case of Windows 7 or Vista>
    Open "Documents".
    This will be the "C:\Users\[username]\Documents" folder.


    <For XP>
    Open [My Documents].
    This will be the "C:\Documents and Settings\[Username]\My Documents" folder.


    Is there a "ChineseWriter9" folder in the above folder?
    If yes, rename the folder to "ChineseWriter9OLD".


  7. Display the list of fonts from the control panel (or C:\WINDOWS\Fonts}).

    *If the font item is not displayed in the control panel
    For Windows 7, switch the display method from "Categories" to "Small Icons" in the upper right corner of the control panel.
    If you are using Windows Vista or XP, please switch the left category of the control panel to "Classic" view.

  8. Remove ChineseWriter-related fonts (all of the following)

    Depending on the version of old ChineseWriter, the attached fonts are different.

  9. Configuration file, IME file Delete
    C:\WINDOWS delete Chinese Writer configuration file
    Chinese Writer configuration file
    In case of Chinese Writer 9(CW): gbimeV9.ini
    For Chinese Writer 9(GB): gbimeV9.ini UgbimeV9.ini
    For Chinese Writer 9(BIG5): B5imeV9.ini

  10. IME file Delete
    If you are using the 64-bit version, delete the Chinese Writer IME file located at C:\Windows\SysWOW64
    Chinese Writer IME file
    In case of Chinese Writer 9(CW): gbimeV9.ime
    In the case of Chinese Writer 9(GB) ugbimeV9.ime
    For Chinese Writer 9(BIG5): B5imeV9.ime
    Delete the Chinese Writer IME file in C:\WINDOWS\system32
    Chinese Writer IME file
    In case of Chinese Writer 9(CW): gbimeV9.ime
    In the case of Chinese Writer 9(GB) ugbimeV9.ime
    For Chinese Writer 9(BIG5): B5imeV9.ime

  11. Exit Explorer.

  12. Remove Chinese Writer9 by right-clicking on it from the Windows Start button under Programs (All Programs).

  13. Registry Operations
    Start the registry deletion operation.
    *This operation manipulates an important part of the Widnows system. If you operate it incorrectly, your computer will be damaged. Please work carefully within the Registry Editor.

    (1) Start Registry Editor

    In Windows 7, type "regedit" in the "Search for programs and files" box above the Start button.
    In Vista, type "regedit" in the "Search for files" box above the Start button.
    and press the Enter key.
    (If regedit.exe appears at the top, click on it.)
    When the User Account Control dialog box appears, click "Allow" or "Yes".
    In Windows XP, click Start <Run>, type regedit in the box and press Enter.
    The Registry Editor will start up.


    (2) Remove any remaining displays in Add or Remove Programs (WindowsXP) or in the Control Panel.

    Click in the following order
    ＜From the tree on the left side
    For 64bit version
    \HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows \CurrentVersion\Uninstall\{02804E8D-360D-414E-B15D-D9BD247FE31 D}
    or
    \HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows \CurrentVersion\Uninstall\{AFC94C63-4BF9-4F61-8F4B-FC7E7F6561E9} Click on the following link.

    For 32bit version
    Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\ \Uninstall\{02804E8D-360D-414E-B15D-D9BD247FE31D} Click on
    Or click on
    \HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion \Uninstall\{AFC94C63-4BF9-4F61-8F4B-FC7E7F6561E9}.

    <In the category on the right side
    ・Common for both 64-bit and 32-bit versions
    Confirm that DisplayName is displayed as ChineseWriter9.

    <From the tree on the left side
    Right-click on
    {02804E8D-360D-414E-B15D-D9BD247FE31D}
    or
    {AFC94C63-4BF9-4F61-8F4B-FC7E7F6561E9} to delete it.
    On the confirmation screen for key deletion, "Do you want to permanently delete this key and all of its subkeys?" is displayed, click [Yes(Y)].


    Click [Yes(Y)].

    *If the above folder does not exist, proceed to the next step.


    3) Delete the registry information of ChineseWriter9.
    Please click in the following order.

    If the following folder does not exist, please go to the next step.

    In case of 64bit version, please right click on
    Computer \HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\KODENSHA\ChineseWriter9 and delete it.
    Right-click on the computer \HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\KODENSHA\CVoiceF and delete it.

    Right-click on the computer \HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\KODENSHA\ChineseWriter9″ and delete it.

    Right-click on your computer \HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\KODENSHA\ChineseWriter9″ and delete it.
    Right-click on the computer \HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\KODENSHA\ChineseWriter9 font set and delete it.
    Right-click on the computer \HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\KODENSHA\ChineseWriter9_Disk2″ and delete it.
    Right-click on the computer and delete HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\KODENSHA\CVoiceF.


    For 32bit version:
    Right-click on the computer \HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\KODENSHA\ChineseWriter9″ and delete it.
    Right-click on the computer \HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\KODENSHA\CVoiceF and delete it.

    Right-click on the computer \HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\KODENSHA\ChineseWriter9″ and delete it.
    Right-click on your computer \HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\KODENSHA\ChineseWriter9 font set and delete it.
    Right-click on the computer \HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\KODENSHA\ChineseWriter9_Disk2″ and delete it.
    Right-click on your computer \HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\KODENSHA\CVoiceF and delete it.


    4）
    Click the [X] button in the upper right corner of the Registry Editor and close the window.

    5）
    Restart your computer.
