   Uninstalling ChineseWriter10 / How to manually remove the software if it cannot be uninstalled

Subject Chinese Writer10 series
The order
Order to uninstall from the control panel
  1. ChineseWriter10 Learning Premium *If you are using ChineseWriter10 Learning Premium
  2. ChineseWriter10 (64bit) Update *In case you are using Windows7 (64bit)
  3. ChineseWriter10
  4. ChineseWriter10 font set
Phenomenon Normally, uninstallation from the control panel will complete the removal successfully and there is no need to perform
manual removal.
However, if for some reason you are unable to uninstall from the control panel, or if the uninstallation is halfway through
, you can perform
manual removal by following the procedure below. You can manually remove the software by following the procedure below.
Procedure

  1. For Windows 8.1, 8, 7, Vista
    ① Select [Control Panel] - [Clock, Language, and Region], click the tab [Keyboard and Language] in the [Region and Language] properties, and click the [Change Keyboard (C)] button.
    ② The "Text Services and Input Languages" dialog box will appear.
    (iii) Perform the following operations for the items displayed in "Installed Services (I)".
    Select ChineseWriter10 (GB) under Chinese (China) - [Keyboard] and click the "Remove" button.
    Select ChineseWriter10 (BIG5) in Chinese (Taiwan)-[Keyboard] and click the "Delete" button.
    Select ChineseWriter10(CW) under Japanese(Japan)-[Keyboard] and click the "Delete" button.
    4) In the "Text Services and Input Languages" dialog box, click the [ OK ] button to finish the setting.

    For Windows XP
    ① Select [Control Panel] - [Regional and Language Options].
    2) In Regional and Language Option Properties, click on the [ Languages ] tab.
    ③ Click the [ Details (D) ] button to display the "Text Service and Input Languages" dialog box.
    ④ Select "Installed Services (I)"
    ChineseWriter10(GB) and click the [ Remove ] button on the right.
    Select ChineseWriter10(BIG5) and click the "Remove" button on the right.
    Select ChineseWriter10(CW) and click the "Delete" button on the right.
    ⑤ In the Text Services and Input Languages dialog, click the [ OK ] button to exit the setup.



  2. Uninstall from the Control Panel.
    Uninstallation order
    1. ChineseWriter10 Learning Premium *If you are using ChineseWriter10 Learning Premium
    2. ChineseWriter10 (64bit) Update *If you are using a 64bit version PC
    3. ChineseWriter10
    4. ChineseWriter10 font set
    *Please make sure that you uninstall in the correct order.

    Q. I am not sure if my PC is 64-bit or 32-bit.
    A. In Windows 7, right-click on Start < Computer and left-click on Properties (R) to display the System.
    Under "System type," you will see either 32-bit operating system or 64-bit operating system, so you can check
    which OS you are using.

    If you are unable to uninstall the software successfully, or if the uninstallation stops in the middle of the process, please follow the steps below.

  3. Restart Windows.

  4. Right-click the Start button and launch Explorer.

  5. Delete the destination folder and the folder created after installation.
    6. Default installation location
    For 32bit PC:
    C:\Program Files\KODENSHA\ChineseWriter10

    For 64bit version PC
    C:\Program Files\KODENSHA\ChineseWriter10
    C:\Program Files (x86)\KODENSHA\ChineseWriter10

  6. Rename the folder where the dictionary files are stored. (If you do not need to use the user dictionary again, delete the following folder.)
    Default value
    <For Windows 8.1, 8, 7, Vista>
    Open "Documents".
    This will be the "C:\Users\[username]\Documents" folder.


    <For XP>
    Open [My Documents].
    This will be the "C:\Documents and Settings\[Username]\My Documents" folder.


    Is there a "ChineseWriter10" folder in the above folder?
    If yes, rename the folder to "ChineseWriter10OLD".


  7. Display the list of fonts from the control panel (or C:\WINDOWS\Fonts}).

    *If the font item is not displayed in the control panel
    For Windows 8.1, 8, and 7, switch the display method from "Categories" to "Small Icons" in the upper right corner of the control panel.
    If you are using Windows Vista or XP, please switch the left category of the control panel to the classic view.

  8. Remove ChineseWriter-related fonts (all of the following)

    Depending on the version of old ChineseWriter, the attached fonts are different.

  9. Configuration file, IME file Delete
    C:\WINDOWS delete Chinese Writer configuration file
    Chinese Writer configuration file
    In case of Chinese Writer 10(CW): gbimeV10.ini
    For Chinese Writer 10(GB): gbimeV10.ini UgbimeV10.ini
    For Chinese Writer 10(BIG5): B5imeV10.ini

  10. IME file Delete
    If you are using the 64-bit version, delete the Chinese Writer IME file located at C:\Windows\SysWOW64
    Chinese Writer IME file
    In case of Chinese Writer 10(CW): gbimeV10.ime
    In the case of Chinese Writer 10(GB) ugbimeV10.ime
    For Chinese Writer 10(BIG5): B5imeV10.ime
    Delete the Chinese Writer IME file in C:\WINDOWS\system32

    In case of Chinese Writer 10(CW): gbimeV10.ime
    In the case of Chinese Writer 10(GB) ugbimeV10.ime
    For Chinese Writer 10(BIG5): B5imeV10.ime

  11. Exit Explorer.

  12. Delete Chinese Writer10 by right-clicking on it from Programs (All Programs) from the Windows Start button.

  13. Registry Operations
    Start the registry deletion operation.
    *This operation manipulates an important part of the Widnows system. If you operate it incorrectly, your computer will be damaged. Please work carefully within the Registry Editor.

    1) Starting the Registry Editor


    ■In Windows 8.1 and 8
    Start the Registry Editor in Windows 8 (using Microsoft Support image)
    Open the Windows search charm
    Select "Apps" and type "regedit" in the search box in single-byte characters
    On the keyboard Press Enter key OR Select "regedit.exe" from the search hit
    ■In Windows 7 and Vista
    In the "Search Programs and Files" box above the Start button
    In Vista, in the "Search Files" box above the Start button
    " Type "regedit" and press enter.
    (If regedit.exe appears at the top, click on it.)
    (If regedit.exe appears at the top, click on it.) When the User Account Control dialog box appears, click "Allow" or "Yes.
    ■For Windows XP
    Click Start <Run>, type regedit in the box and press the Enter key.
    The Registry Editor will start up.

    (2) Remove the remaining displays in Add or Remove Programs (WindowsXP) or in the Control Panel.

    Click in the following order

    For 64bit version

    ＜In the categories on the right side of the screen, click on
    ・Common for both 64-bit and 32-bit versions
    Confirm that DisplayName is displayed as ChineseWriter10.

    <From the tree on the left side
    Right-click
    {751F134B-382A-462C-BFD5-5F24FBD76501}
    and delete it.
    A confirmation screen for key deletion will ask, "Do you want to permanently delete this key and all of its subkeys?" Click "Yes(Y)".


    Click [Yes(Y)].
    ChineseWriter10 Font Set

    *If the above folder does not exist, proceed to the next step.


    3) Delete the registry information of ChineseWriter10.
    Please click in the following order.
    ＜From the tree on the left side
    If the following folder does not exist, please go to the next step.

    In case of 64bit version, please right click on
    Computer \HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\KODENSHA\ChineseWriter10 and delete it.
    Right-click on the computer \HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\KODENSHA\CVoiceF and delete it.

    Right-click on the computer \HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\KODENSHA\ChineseWriter10″ and delete it.

    Right-click on your computer \HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\KODENSHA\ChineseWriter10″ and delete it.
    Right-click on the computer \HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\KODENSHA\ChineseWriter10 font set and delete it.
    Right-click on the computer and delete the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\KODENSHA\CVoiceF font set.


    In case of 32bit version
    Right-click on the computer \HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\KODENSHA\ChineseWriter10″ and delete it.
    Right-click on the computer ➤HKEY_CURRENT_USER↪SOFTWARE↩KODENSHA➤CVoiceF➤ and delete it.

    Right-click on the computer \HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\KODENSHA\ChineseWriter10″ and delete it.
    Right-click on the computer \HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\KODENSHA\ChineseWriter10 font set and delete it.
    Right-click on your computer \HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\KODENSHA\CVoiceF and delete it.


    4）
    Click the [X] button in the upper right corner of the Registry Editor and close the window.

    5）
    Restart your computer.
